Gravity Defyer Shoes are the first shoes that reduce the wear and tear
that IMPACT imposes on your body without looking like a clunky orthodic. In
fact, Gravity Defyer Shoes are so attractive and elegant that they can be
worn anywhere without drawing unwanted attention. They are available in a wide
range of designs for both men and women. Whether you prefer a shoe
for evening wear, a sporting event or just something you can
stroll through the mall with, you'll be wrapped in comfort while
everyone around you complains about their aching feet!
Advanced technology in footwear.
Gravity Defyers, were designed by the Impact Research Technology
Laboratories (IRTL). They absorb shock and propel you forward
with a patented "secret" hidden in every heel. You wouldn't drive around in a
car without shocks would you? The reciprocating power of Gravity Defyer
Footwear absorbs the painful shock of each step and returns that energy to
you with a bounce that is out of this world. They reduce the wear and tear
that gravity imposes on your body, allowing you to move about more freely and
enjoy your life.
What is the Gravity Defyer Shoe?
Gravity Defyer Shoes are scientifically constructed footwear with a
hidden 6mm (1/8") shock absorber under the heel that releases its
reciprocating resistance power each time you step. As your weight changes to
the balls of your feet, the hidden shock absorber generates upward pressure,
rebounding your body upward and propelling you forward in life.
The
Science Behind the shoes
It started with the research of rubber for the construction and
automobile industries. Scientists investigating shock absorption for
buildings and automobiles discovered a special polymer that was both
lightweight and absorbed shock and vibration. The research lead to the
development of the very first Gravity Defyer Shoe: the Catapult MMXT3.
Others in the sport shoe industry had been trying for decades to produce a
shoe that would provide the shock absorption and energy reciprocating power
of the Gravity Defyer™ Shoes. However, the entire shoe industry was
surprised when Alexander Innovation Wizard launched the first of its kind
energy reciprocating shock absorbing sole in a dress shoe nonetheless!
It is nearly impossible to stand still with the Gravity Defyer™ shoes! As
soon as you slip your feet into the Gravity Defyer™ Shoes, you feel
energized with power as the scientifically designed springs push you from
your heels to your toes and put you in constant movement. You might just
find yourself joining a dance class soon. With all this extra activity in
your life you may even find yourself losing inches around your waist and
wearing a smaller pair of pants. One thing is for certain: your lifestyle
will change.
How will Gravity Defyer change your life?
Appear Nearly 2" Taller
The confidence that comes with being taller and having proper posture is
also yours with the Gravity Defyer™ Shoes. You will gain nearly two inches
(2") of height without looking like you are wearing platform or elevator
shoes. The elegant design of the Gravity Defyer™ Shoes boosts you to new
heights in your life without a thick looking outsole. The hidden 6mm (1/8")
shock absorber provides you with just a little extra boost in height without
slapping on an extra pad of rubber to the bottom of the shoe.
Ease Joint Pain and Pressure on Your Spine
It's almost as if Aeolus, the Greek god of wind, himself has taken his
powerful wind out of his bottles and put it into each pair of the Gravity
Defyer™ Shoes. Your entire body will receive an energy burst when you slip
on the Gravity Defyer™ Shoes because your joints and spine will no longer
feel the full impact of your high impact life. The basic findings by the
scientists of the Impact Research Technology Lab were that the combination
of lightweight rubber and lightweight, durable springs will reduce the
impact and force of gravity on our entire body much the same way that a
suspension system helps reduce the impact on an automobile and airplane.
Jump Higher and Walk Faster
These ethereal shoes will transport you through life with such vigor that
your friends and family will hardly be able to recognize you. The Gravity
Defyer™ Shoes will power your step, making your steps longer and your jumps
higher. You might find that you are walking faster and you may even find
yourself showing up to those important meetings at work early! You might
even find yourself joining a local basketball league.

DOCTOR RECOMMENDED FOR COMFORT AND PAIN RELIEF
Many health concerns can be traced back to our feet – or more importantly our
shoes. The science is really simple. Harmful impact transmits excessive energy
through the musculoskeletal system, damaging joints, tissues, muscles and nerves
through repetitive stress.
Debilitating
conditions commonly associated with poor footwear:
What does it mean to you?
Your health today and in the future relies on good footwear, footwear that
provides not only protection and durability, but is able to cradle the foot and
provide shock protection.
We walk and stand everywhere on hard, unforgiving surfaces. Gravity Defyer
Shoes provide unparalleled shock absorption.
Leg fatigue, lower back pain and even headaches can
result from standing and walking in shoes that fail to provide the combination
of support and cushioning required by the user. A recent study showed that
80% of people will suffer from lower back pain in their lives, while 75%
of Americans will suffer some kind of foot problem.

The Achilles tendon is a large tendon that connects from your calf
muscle to your heel. It is subject to a person’s entire body weight with each
step. Depending upon the speed, stride, terrain and additional weight being
carried or pushed, the Achilles tendon may be subject to up to 3-12 times a
person’s body weight during a sprint or push off.
Symptoms
Achilles Tendonitis can be triggered by activities that repeatedly place
stress on the tendon, causing painful inflammation. Achilles Tendonitis
also can cause soreness and stiffness in the tendon, which left
untreated, will continue to swell and possibly be susceptible to rupture.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
Individuals who experience over-pronation(flat foot or fallen arch) in their
step increase stress on the tendon causing the arch to collapses under ones
weight. Other factors that lead to Achilles Tendonitis are overuse from
excessive exercise, poor stretching prior to engaging in athletics, or direct
damage (injury) to the tendon, and inappropriate footwear.
How we can help!
Gravity Defyer™ Footwear provides specially formulated insoles that help to
reduce shock and relieve stress on the tendon. The natural rocking motion of our
shoes bundled with this padding helps to gently stretch the Achilles tendon with
each stride, providing a natural healing method to alleviate any pain symptoms.
Arthritis is often referred to as a single disease, when it is actually a
broad term used for a group of more than 100 medical conditions that affect
areas in or around the joints. The common thread among these 100-plus conditions
is that they all affect the musculoskeletal system and specifically the joints -
where two or more bones meet.
Symptoms
Arthritis-related joint problems include pain, stiffness, inflammation and
damage to joint cartilage and surrounding structures. Such damage can lead to
joint weakness, instability and visible deformities that, depending on the
location of joint involvement, can interfere with the most basic daily tasks
such as climbing stairs, or even walking.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
The most frequent form of arthritis is known as osteoarthritis (OA), which is
most prevalent in people over 60. This form of arthritis is degenerative and
causes the breakdown and eventual loss of cartilage, which is a substance that
provides cushion between the bones of the joints. When this cartilage wears down
it causes bone to rub against bone, which can cause extreme pain and discomfort.
Statistics:
2006 – 46 million (nearly 1 in 5 adults)
Arthritis limits everyday activities such as walking, dressing and
bathing for more than 7 million Americans.
Baby boomers are now at prime risk. More than half those affected are
under age 65.
Half of those Americans with arthritis don’t think anything can be done
to help them.
Arthritis refers to more than 100 different diseases that affect areas
in or around joints.
Arthritis strikes women more often than men.
Overall:
Women - 24.3 million of the people with doctor-diagnosed arthritis
Men - 17.1 million of the people with doctor-diagnosed arthritis

Back pain is a problem that affects a large portion of individuals
from time to time. It can come in many forms, from lower back pain, middle back
pain, to upper back pain. Your back houses a complex structure of bones, joints,
ligaments, and muscles. Muscles and ligaments in the back are susceptible to
strain, which can result in back pain.
Symptoms
Symptoms for back pain can include: fatigue, damage in the immediate area,
reduced energy and headaches. Lower back pain is the most experienced form of
back pain because this area is the subject to the most involuntary stress.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
Between 75 and 85% of all people will experience some form of back
pain during their lifetime.
Back pain is the second most frequently reported reason for visiting
a Doctor. After the common cold, it is the leading reason for missed
workdays for people under 45.
Lower back pain is more common in overweight people. Carrying extra
weight causes increased stress on the back, especially the lower back
which supports most the weight of the torso.
How we can help!
Back pain is a complex problem, however proper footwear can go a long
way towards reducing symptoms and may help to prevent it in the first
place. Enter Gravity Defyer, our footwear is engineered to reduce back
pain and other common ailments that can be traced back to the foot bed.
Shoes which provide proper support maintain the alignment of the
spinal column. This improved posture allows the body to work more
efficiently relieving muscle tension in the legs and lower back. With
reduced pain, your activity levels will improve. As a result, you may
find yourself walking further and feeling more capable throughout the
day. Aerobic exercise is the most effective way to burn calories where
as strength exercises increase your muscle mass, which in turn increases
your resting metabolism. Extra muscles burn extra calories even while
sleeping.
A bunion is an enlargement (lump) of bone or tissue around the joint at the
base of the big toe. Bunions are caused by a misalignment that is usually due to
improper footwear or poor foot function.
Symptoms
If a lump has formed it might be swollen and tender. Painful if pressure is
applied. The big toe may turn in toward the second toe. If not treated the
bunion can become larger and lead to further complications such as arthritis and
stiffness.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
Everyone is susceptible to bunions.
How we can help!
Almost all patients with bunions can be treated with adaptive footwear.
Simply selecting appropriate footwear can help to relieve symptoms.
Shoes should be boxy at the toe to provide ample room and to avoid further
aggravating an already swollen and painful joint.
Good arch support is also important, because the bones of the arch are
vulnerable to malformation as the bunion develops.
Low heels, which are always better for the feet are essential in treating
bunions, because high heels put the entire weight of the body on the balls of
the feet, the very part of the foot that must not be stressed if bunions are to
be avoided or treated.
It is also possible to purchase over-the-counter toe pads to wear inside the
shoe for temporary realignment of the big toe. Padded insoles can also enhance
the shoe's arch support.
Gravity Defyer offers shoes that meet all the needs stated above.
Degenerative Disc Disease is
the natural degradation of the cartilage between vertebra. As this cartilage
breaks down the space between the vertebra is reduced, putting the fragile
nerves that pass through these spaces in danger. A pinched nerve may cause pain,
numbness or the loss of motor control. Many individuals with back pain also
suffer from degenerative disc disease.
Symptoms
Symptoms for degenerative disc disease can include: fatigue, damage in the
immediate area, reduced energy and headaches. Lower back pain is the most
experienced symptom because this area is the subject to the most involuntary
stress.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
Between 75 and 85% of all people will experience some form of back
pain during their lifetime.

Nearly everyone experiences foot, heel or ankle pain at some
time in their life. If the pain is general, it may be a minor
issue that will heal naturally. Over 95% of all foot, heel and
ankle pain will heal itself over time. But if pain is
persistent, it may indicate a more specific condition.
Symptoms
Bunions. The joint of the big toe
becomes enlarged, causing the skin over the joint to swell.
Pain and tenderness result, and severe cases can be
disabling.
Flexible flatfoot. This condition, the
most common type of flatfoot, is characterized by partial or
total collapse of both arches. Symptoms include pain,
turned-in ankle, the sensation of shin splint pain and
weakness in the leg or foot.
Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (PTTD).
Often called adult-onset flatfoot, this condition usually
happens in one foot only and is progressive. Pain on the
inside of the foot and ankle, redness, swelling and arches
that begin to flatten are symptoms.
Hammer toes, claw toes,
and mallet toes. With these deformities,
muscles that control movement of the toes become unbalanced,
forcing the toe joints to bend into abnormal positions.
Except in very rare cases, the lesser toes are affected
rather than the big toe.
Bursitis. The heel swells, becomes
inflamed and feels tender. Wearing shoes worsens the
discomfort; rest improves the condition.
Achilles tendonitis. The soft tissues
in and around the Achilles tendon (which connects the heel
bone to the calf muscles) break down, causing pain and
swelling in the back of the calf.
Stress fracture. A tiny crack in a bone
will cause pain and weakness.
Ankle sprain. The foot turns inward
causing a tearing or rupture of the strong soft tissue
ligaments on the outside of the ankle.
Plantar fasciitis. The thick band of
tissue on the bottom of the foot becomes inflamed where it
connects to the heel bone.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
Fashionable but poorly fitting shoes can cause foot pain.
Thanks mainly to high-heeled women's shoes with narrow toe
boxes, women have four times the number of foot problems that
men do. Pregnant women have unique foot problems related to
weight gain, swelling in the feet and ankles, and the presence
of hormones that cause ligaments to relax -- often weakening the
feet.
In older women, severe foot pain is a major cause of
disability, impairing the ability to walk unassisted or perform
everyday activities.
Sometimes foot pain results from underlying conditions such
as diabetes or arthritis. Abnormal functioning of nerves in
diabetics causes paralysis of small muscles in the foot, which
results in clawing of the toes, loss of feeling, callused skin
and foot ulcers. Osteoarthritis has a painful effect on the many
joints in the foot.
How we can help!
Proper footwear can go a long way towards reducing symptoms
and may help to prevent foot pain first place. Gravity Defyers
are engineered to reduce pain and relieve symptoms of other
common foot ailments.
They provide proper support, relieving foot pain and
energizing the wearer. As a result, you may find yourself
walking further and feeling more capable throughout the day.
Hammertoe is then bending--of one or both joints of the
second, third, fourth, or fifth (little) toes. This abnormal
bending can put pressure on the toe when wearing shoes, causing
problems to develop.
Symptoms
Common symptoms of hammertoes include pain and irritation of
the phalanges and joints, corns, and calluses. Hammertoes, if
left untreated, can lead to joint dislocation. The most common
cause of hammer toes is muscle/tendon imbalance, but they are
often aggravated by shoes that don't fit properly
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
A major cause is in hereditary (family) factors, so
individuals born with flat feet, and/or high arches are often
prone to this condition. But contributing factors include
wearing inappropriate footwear which cause excessive compression
of the toes. Other conditions may be present. If you have
bunions or excessive calouse buildup please consult a physician.
How we can help!
Gravity Defyers are constructed with a wide toe box in order
to decrease compression of the toes and ball of the foot.
Heel pain can be the result of what is commonly called a heel
spur. A heel spur is a bony growth that occurs at the attachment
of the plantar fascia to the heel bone. A heel spur can occur
(with repetitive pulling of the plantar fascia) on a foot with
no symptoms at all and a painful heel can have no heel spur
present.
Symptoms
Heel pain resulting from a heel spur is often worse in the
morning on first rising from bed or after rising from sitting.
Pain is present on the sole of the heel and the heel may be
slightly swollen and warm. The pain is often described as
feeling “like a stone bruise” although there is usually no
history of injury and the onset is gradual.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
Heel spurs occur due to a calcium deficiency --a common
concern among the aging. When deficient, the body begins to
leach calcium from the bones. In many people this happens to be
in the heel of the foot or some other weak area of the body. As
the calcium is being leached, it forms an eruption (similar to a
volcano). This eruption is the bone spur. When the body is fed
the right amount of "good" calcium the eruption subsides - along
with the pain.
The best way to eliminate this "leaching process" (calcium
deficiency) SAFELY, is to supplement your diet with a specially
tested formulation of calcium along with the other vital
minerals mentioned above. Please see a medical professional if
you suspect you have a heel spur.
How we can help!
Gravity Defyer's can't fix a calcium deficency, but they can
help you to be more comfortable during treatment.
Gravity Defyer's built in shock absorbers, combined with
their generous cushioning, are ideal for relieving pain and
helping you be more active.
While leg pain is common occurrence after injury, there are
many non-traumatic causes of leg pain. Pain in the legs can be
present because of conditions that affect bones, joints,
muscles, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, nerves, and skin.
Most often, inflammation of tissues is the end result of these
diseases, and the inflammation is the source of pain.
Symptoms
Illness and injury can affect any of these structures,
causing discomfort and pain. More than one mechanism may be
occurring at the same time. Some illustrative examples include:
An injured muscle will cause pain because of
inflammation and swelling, but it may also affect the
balance of muscles surrounding a joint. If this imbalance
persists, the joint may start to hurt because of chronic
stresse placed upon it.
Patients with poorly controlled diabetes may develop
diabetic neuropathy, in which some of the symptoms may
include pain and loss of sensation in the feet. Diabetes is
also one of the risk factors for peripheral vascular
disease, which may cause narrowing of blood vessels in the
legs. This may cause exercise-induced pain when muscles
don't get an adequate blood supply to meet their metabolic
needs.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
Leg pain is a common symptom experienced by most individuals
at some time in their life, however it could also be a symptom
of a more serious condition. Please consult a physician if leg
pain is persistent or you have a family history which might
warrent further investigation.

Morton's neuroma is the most common nueroma , which occurs at
the base of the third and fourth toes. The thickening, or
enlargement, of the nerve that defines a neuroma is the result
of compression and irritation of the nerve. This compression
creates swelling of the nerve, which eventually can lead to
permanent nerve damage.
Symptoms
Symptoms can manifest in many different ways. The associated
conditions depend on the individual lifestyle of each patient.
Here is a list of some of the conditions associated with Over
Pronation:
Anything that causes compression or irritation of the nerve
can lead to the development of a neuroma. One of the most common
offenders is wearing shoes that have a tapered toe box, or
high-heeled shoes that cause the toes to be forced into the toe
box.
People with certain foot deformities including bunions,
hammertoes, flatfeet, or flexible feet—are at higher risk for
developing a neuroma. Other potential causes are activities that
involve repetitive irritation to the ball of the foot, such as
running or racquet sports. An injury or other type of trauma to
the area may also lead to a neuroma.
How we can help!
Gravity defyers provide proper padding and support for the
metatarsal arch, thereby lessening the pressure on the nerve and
decreasing compression when walking. Additionally, Gravity
Defyers are constructed with a wide toe box in order to decrease
compression of the toes and ball of the foot.
Over-pronation is when the foot rolls inwards which causes an
internal rotation of the lower leg and knee which results in
strain on the lower body. Over-pronation places stress on the
lower body and can cause foot pain, knee pin, leg pain, and
lower back pain. Increased stress from over-pronation can cause
plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, tendonitis, and also bunions.
Symptoms
Symptoms can manifest in many different ways. The associated
conditions depend on the individual lifestyle of each patient.
Here is a list of some of the conditions associated with Over
Pronation:
Over pronation occurs due to a biomechanical dysfunction.
How we can help!
Gravity defyers feature built in support and may aid in the
reduction of foot and leg pain due to overpronation. They reduce
the lateral "rolling over" of the feet which causes excessive
pressure on the muscles, ligaments and bones of the lower body.
Plantar Fasciitis is a serious, painful, and progressing
illness that occurs when the long, flat ligament along the
bottom of the foot develops tears and inflammation. Serious
cases of plantar fasciitis can possibly lead to ruptures in the
ligament. This ligament is called the plantar fascia and it
extends your five toes and runs along the bottom of your foot,
attaching to your heel. When you walk or run, you land on your
heel and raise yourself on your toes as you shift your weight to
your other foot, causing all your weight to be held up by your
plantar fascia. Such repetitive force can pull the fascia from
its attachment on your heel and cause damage and plantar
fasciitis.
Symptoms
The classic symptom of plantar fasciitis is heel pain when
you take your first steps after getting out of bed or after
sitting for a long period of time. You may also have:
Stiffness and pain in the morning or after resting that
gets better after a few steps but gets worse as the day
progresses.
Pain that gets worse when you climb stairs or stand on
your toes.
Pain after you stand for long periods.
Pain at the beginning of exercise that gets better or
goes away as exercise continues but returns when exercise is
completed.
Plantar fasciitis may be mistaken for other conditions with
similar symptoms such as tarsal tunnel syndrome.
Who suffers from this kind of injury?
Plantar fasciitis is most often seen in middle-aged men and
women, but can be found in all age groups. Plantar fasciitis is
diagnosed with the classic symptoms of pain well localized over
the heel area of the bottom of the foot. Often the pain from
plantar fasciitis is most severe when you first stand on your
feet in the morning. Pain often subsides quite quickly, but then
returns after prolonged standing or walking.
Plantar fasciitis is sometimes, but not always, associated
with a rapid gain of weight. Plantar fasciitis is also sometimes
seen in recreational athletes, especially runners. In these
athletes, it is thought that the repetitive nature of the sports
causes the damage to the fibrous tissue that forms the arch of
the foot.
