EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS!
Chronic, low-grade metabolic acidosis (over-acidification of the blood) has
been implicated as an underlying cause of a large variety of adverse health
conditions. Metabolic acidosis (CMA) is a state in which the blood pH is low
(under 7.35) and is recognized as causal factor in many health problems.
It is well documented and accepted that the composition of the diet can
affect the body's acid-base balance due to the ability of specific foods to
produce acid or base as a result of their digestion and metabolism. Foods
high in mineral salts and organic acids, namely most fruits and vegetables,
tend to increase pH. Unfortunately, our industrialized societies consume
diets of mainly processed foods based on processed cereal grains, animal
protein, and an inordinately high salt content lowering pH and leading to
CMA. In order to correct this low grade metabolic acidosis and bring
acid-base balance towards a more alkaline state (ideal for optimal health),
consuming a diet high in alkaline/base-producing foods compared to
acid-producing foods is necessary. The bottom line is that we MUST take
responsibility and get our diets back in order and vegetables are key to the
alkaline balance for health.
People don't realize, but yeasts, fungus, molds, bacteria and viruses need
an acidic environment to thrive and grow. Modern daily diets and lifestyles
are conducive to such proliferation and growth. It is no secret that most
diets are severely lacking in green food nutrients, vegetable fiber, and
other whole, nutritious foods. The traditional western-style diet is based
on animal foods such as meat and dairy products, and does not contain a lot
of plant foods like fruits, vegetables, seaweed, whole grains, etc. Because
of the lack of nutritious foods in this diet, many concomitant problems such
as cardiovascular disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, etc., may result. Based
on analysis from prestigious research institutes, including the National
Cancer Institute, westerners are strongly urged to eat a varied,
well-balanced diet, rich in dark leafy greens.
Furthermore, over-cooking foods reduces their biological activity and
nutritional value. Frozen foods have little food value to start with (not to
mention the preservatives), and then there is the biqitous microwave oven,
which completely eliminates nutritional value and kills all enzyme
activity in anything it cooks. This is a real problem because our
bodies require enzymes and fiber/greens to digest food and allow processing
of nutrients. Without these key elements, food remains undigestable,
unusable, and toxins accumulate, and this is a major cause
of sickness. How many of us are constipated, low in energy, often somewhat
hypo-glycemic, and have high blood pressure and cholesterol? This is often a
direct result of toxins, bacterias and virii that occur because digestion
and elimiation has stalled. The answer is to get your greens and get your
system going.
In today's world, it's just not easy to get all these nutrients.
Well, GREEN 33(tm) is the answer.
It is an ideal
supplement to your daily diet to give your body what it needs. You will
benefit in so many ways, not least of which is a healthy digestion. The key
is synergy, which is the watchword of supplement effectiveness. This
near-perfect blend of ingredients all work together (in much the way nature
does blending vitamins, mineral, etc. in fruits and vegetables) to provide a
valuable fortifying product. Think of it as cheap long-term insurance for
your health.
Here's an example
of what we mean, taking the case of lycopene. If you ingest lycopene alone,
it has a certain effect in the prevention of LDL oxidation. But if you add
tocopherols to it, the effect is greatly enhanced (Tufts, Blumberg, 2001.)
The fact that the combination of nutrients may be more effective than an
isolated compound might explain why tomato extract—rich in all antioxidants
and more—lowers LDL oxidation the most, and why diets plentiful in whole
tomato show such strong correlations with heart-disease management. With
this synergy in mind, we studied not only the effects of each ingredient,
but how they interact together. In addition to the synergistic mixture of
nutrients, we also do not selectively extract for any one compound, so we
get a full range of the nutrients from each ingredient, then we release it
from the structure of the original compound so it is much more bioavailable.
What results is a complex of closer-to-nature ingredients that we feel all
work together synergistically in an almost unknown fashion to create a truly
valuable health supplement and one that is far superior to the common
thoughtlessly-produced marketing health formulas that do little.
What's in the GREEN 33(TM)
Super Supplement?
Natural plant enzymes:
Enzymes are specialized protein molecules facilitating most of
the body’s metabolic processes. Also they help deliver the
specific nutrients for muscle and tissue repair, as well as
support optimum immune function. A broad spectrum of plant
enzymes to aid digestion and to promote delivery of nutrients to
your bloodstream and cells are a primary component of the GREEN
33 formula and key to its efficacy and its significant
bio-availability (high Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity - ORAC
- rating.)
|
We have chosen these ingredients not just for there nutritional value and
importance but also for their synergy as a co-operative formula.
Alfalfa
Alfalfa is a rich natural source of chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals and
protein which supports a healthy colon. Alfalfa has also been used to treat
kidney stones, relieve fluid retention and swelling, and nourish the
digestive, skeletal, glandular, and urinary systems.
Aloe Vera
* Penetration -
Aloe has the ability to reach the deepest body tissues, some seven layers
deep.
* Antiseptic - Aloe has six antiseptic agents which kills bacteria, viruses
and fungus.
* Stimulates cell growth - Aloe stimulates the birth of new, healthy tissue.
* Settles nerves.
* Cleanses - Aloe detoxifies and normalizes our metabolism.
Barley Grass
Barley grass contains a broad spectrum of
vitamins, minerals, enzymes, protein, and chlorophyllins. It provides eleven
times the calcium of cow's milk and five times the iron of spinach. Research
on barley grass shows encouraging results in DNA damage repair and
anti-aging activity.
Beet (root)
The part of the plant used medicinally is the
root. Beets help normalize the ph of the body, and they also help build the
blood. Primary chemical constituents of Beet Root include saponiside,
phytosterol, betaine, leucine, tyrosine, betacyanin, beta carotene,
manganese, potassium, and iron. Beet Root has a general stimulant and
resistance-enhancing action. This is based on the red pigment "betanin", an
anthrocyanin from the flavonoid group.
Bilberry Leaf
Traditional use (may or may not be supported
by scientific studies): The dried berries and leaves of bilberry have been
recommended for a wide variety of conditions, including scurvy, urinary
tract infections, and kidney stones. Perhaps the most sound historical
application is the use of the dried berries to treat diarrhea. Modern
research of bilberry was partly based on its use by British World War II
pilots, who noticed that their night vision improved when they ate bilberry
jam prior to night bombing raids. Alleged health beneficial effects of
Bilberry include effects on visual system, prevention and restriction of
tumor development, improvement of sugar metabolism in patients with type 2
diabetes
Broccoli
Medicinal Value: Recent research indicates
that Broccoli contains a substance called Sulforaphane that has been shown
in animal studies to dramatically reduce the number, size, and reproduction
of malignant tumors, as well as delay the onset of these tumors. This
appears to relate directly to cancer risk in humans, particularly in breast,
stomach, colon, rectal, and lung cancers, and it is believed to be a
powerful preventative for these diseases. It is also rich in fiber,
carotenoids, and vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin K, (which is a known
stomach and colon cancer preventative).
Due to its high
levels of vitamin C, beta carotene, and fiber, Broccoli is a powerful
antioxidant that is believed to prevent damage to cells caused by free
radicals, which are believed to be a a factor in cancers, Alzheimer's
disease, heart disease, arthritis, and in the aging process itself,
suggesting that a diet high in these substances may prevent or at least
minimize the effects of these diseases.
The high fiber
content of Broccoli is also believed to be of benefit in cases of diabetes,
and diabetics should certainly consider a broccoli as an important dietary
aid in the control of their diabetes. Broccoli also has as much calcium as
milk, and is therefore an important source of nutrition for those with
osteoporosis or calcium deficiencies.
Cabbage
Kills bacteria and viruses and stimulates the
immune system; helps prevent colon cancer and ulcers; is excellent as a
vitalizing agent and blood purifier, according to the American Medicine
Journal. Several clinical studies have found cabbage to be effective in
warding off diseases, specifically cancer.
Carrot
Very nutritious, Carrots provide the highest content
of vitamin A of all the vegetables. Brightly orange colored Carrots contain
carotenoids and flavonoids, two important phytochemicals, a natural
bioactive compound found in plant foods. These elements work with nutrients
and dietary fiber to protect against disease. Beta-carotene, a member of the
carotenoids family, was originally found in Carrots and protects the body by
decreasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, blindness and certain types of
cancer
Celery
In ancient Rome, Celery was worn around the neck to
ward off a hangover from a particularly hardy night of partying. Perhaps
this is where the practice of putting a stalk of celery in a Bloody Mary.
Though this has never been proven, celery has been shown to lower blood
pressure and aid in the fight against cancer.
CCelery has been
used in Asia as a treatment for high blood pressure for centuries. Once put
to the test by an assistant professor at the University of Chicago, the
remedy was proven true. By injection research animals with a small amount of
3-n butyl phthalide, which is a chemical found in celery, he dropped the
blood pressure of the test subjects by 12%to 14%. Phthalide relaxes the
arteries that regulate blood pressure. This allows the vessels to dilate.
Phthalide also lowers the level of stress hormones called catacholamines.
This helps fight high blood pressure that is stress induced constricting
blood vessels and raising blood pressure.
There is an
ingredient found in celery called acetylenics, which has been shown to stop
the growth of cancer cells. Celery also contains phenolic acids. These have
been shown to block the actions of prostoglandins, which are known to
encourage the growth of cancerous tumors.
Chlorella/strong>
CChlorella contains a higher concentration of
chlorophyll than any other cultivated plant. The cell wall material of
chlorophyll aids in detoxifying the colon and promoting growth of beneficial
bacteria. It also eliminates heavy metals and helps maintain muscle tone
during times of decreased food intake. Chlorella contains a combination of
molecules called "controlled growth factors" which provide an increase in
energy and immune health when taken regularly.
Cornsilk
Cornsilk is used to soothe the urinary tract and can
give relief to the bladder, kidneys and small intestine. Cornsilk assists
with prostate problems, bed wetting, carpel tunnel syndrome, edema, and
obesity. It has also been used to lessen the effects of premenstrual
syndrome, and it promotes relaxation.
Dandelion Root/strong>
DDandelion Root can be helpful in maintaining healthy
kidney and liver function, and may also have blood cleansing effects.
Echinacea Purpurea
Echinacea increases the "non-specific" activity of the
immune system. In other words, unlike a vaccine which is active only against
a specific disease, echinacea stimulates the overall activity of the cells
responsible for fighting all kinds of infection. Unlike antibiotics, which
are directly lethal to bacteria, echinacea makes our own immune cells more
efficient in attacking bacteria, viruses and abnormal cells, including
cancer cells.
Echinacea facilitates wound healing, lessens symptoms of and speeds recovery
from viruses. Anti-inflammatory effects make it useful externally against
inflammatory skin conditions including psoriasis and eczema. It may also
increase resistance to candida, bronchitis, herpes, and other infectious
conditions.
Odorless Garlic (llium sativum)
* Lowers cholesterol.
* Works as anticoagulant to reduce blood clotting.
* Helps fight infections.
* Reduces blood pressure.
* Helps prevent hardening of the arteries.
* Boosts immunity.
* May destroy types of cancer cells.
* Works as digestive aid and relieves gas.
Grapefruit (Pectin)
Pectin, a soluble fiber, which is effective in
lowering cholesterol levels. Apples work in any form (raw fruit or powder or
juice) to maintain good cardiovascular health. Researchers at the University
of California, Davis, found that Pectin acts as an antioxidant against the
damaging portion of cholesterol in the blood stream. Many researchers
suggest that people who eat fatty foods should, if possible, wash down this
food with apple juice rather than the usual drink. Researchers have found
that raw Apples are the richest of fruits in pectin, with the Jonagold
variety of Apple leading other varieties. A diet of low fiber, high fat, and
animal protein appears to be the leading cause of death in many people. It
has been established that a diet rich in Apple Pectin can protect against
these diseases. Research in Japan has found that Apple Pectin can also
decrease the chances of colon cancer. Apple Pectin helps maintain intestinal
balance by cleansing the intestinal tract with its soluble and insoluble
fibers. Apple Pectin tends to increase acidity in the large intestines, and
is advocated for those suffering from ulcer or colitis, and for regulating
blood pressure.
MSM
(Methylsulfonylmethane):
* helps our bodies absorb more nutrients (vitamins and
minerals).
* increases oxygen availability to the body.
* increases energy.
* helps the body eliminate toxins including lactic acid build-up from
strenuous exercise.
* dramatically reduces recuperation time from strenuous exercise and long
hours of work.
* relieves muscular aches and pains.
* helps reduce inflammation due to injury or inflammatory diseases such as
arthritis.
* together with Vitamin C (a free radical scavenger) helps the body build
healthy new cells.
* along with Vitamin C, helps reduce scar tissue and wrinkles, and helps
keep the skin more elastic.
* along with Vitamin C, helps the hair and nails grow stronger and faster.
* has been shown to improve mental alertness.
* has been proven to help in the reduction and even the total elimination of
allergies.
* reduces headaches, cramps and muscle pain caused by hormonal imbalances,
for example, PMS.
* helps relieve constipation.
* has been proven to help reduce and even eliminate snoring.
* reduces eye membrane irritation (when MSM in a water solution is applied).
Parsley
Parsley contains vitamins B, C and E and minerals
iron, calcium, manganese, phosphorus and potassium. As with a lot of plants,
parsley has the perfect balance of iron and vitamin C. Vitamin C is needed
to increase the uptake of iron. Parsley is also good for intestinal colic
and flatulence. It is also a diuretic, so useful in cases of fluid
retention, useful for fatigue, anemia rheumatism, and gout.
Pau d'Arco
Researchers have detected in the inner bark of the
Tabebuia trees a handful of powerful infection-fighting compounds called
naphthoquinones. One of these substances (lapachol) seems to be particularly
potent. Naphthoquinones appear to help kill certain disease-causing
bacteria, viruses, and fungi, partially justifying the name given to this
herbal remedy ("tajy," meaning to have strength and vigor) by the Guarani
and Tupi tribes in South America.
In addition, laboratory studies have demonstrated that pau d'arco has
anti-fungal properities on par with a common anti-fungal prescription drug (ketoconazole).
This action likely explains its effectiveness for vaginal infections (caused
by the yeast Candida), as well as for fighting the fungi responsible for
athlete's foot, jock itch, and other common fungal skin infections.
(Commercially available products are available for this purpose.)
Some herbalists also recommend Pau d'Arco to strengthen immunity in the
presence of such ailments as cancer, HIV or AIDS, chronic bronchitis, or
chronic fatigue syndrome.
Peppermint
* Treat irritable bowel syndrome.
* Ease nausea and vomiting.
* Control flatulence and diverticular disorders.
* Improve digestion and reduce heartburn.
* Dissolve gallstones.
* Fight bad breath.
* Control muscle aches and chronic pain.
* Clear congestion and cough related to colds and allergies.
* Control mild asthma.
* Fight stress.
Raspberry
Raspberries contain one of the most powerful
antioxidants known; a series of ellagatannins which are converted into
ellagic acid in the body. Many fruits contain ellagatannins. However,
raspberry ellagatannins are one of very few fruits that have been clinically
shown to be transformed into beneficial levels of ellagic acid in the body.
Rosemary
Known benefits include:
* regulating blood pressure
* energy
* feeling of well-being
* stimulates the circulation
* boosting the health of the heart
* antidepressant
* tonic for the nerves
* diuretic
* depression and apathy
* migraines (associated with nervous tension)
Sage
Sage makes an excellent remedy for infections, with
its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, and can be taken for colds,
flu, fevers, sore throats and chest infections. It was an old remedy for
tuberculosis and bronchitis. Its diuretic properties make it a good
detoxifying remedy, useful for treating arthritis and gout. In the digestive
tract it relaxes tension and colic, stimulates appetite and enhances
digestion, and has a beneficial effect on the liver. Sage can be taken for
irregular, scanty or painful periods and its estrogenic properties make it a
good remedy for menopausal problems, particularly night sweats and hot
flushes.
Slippery Elm
The main use is the GI tract. It is soothing and coats
the stomach and the colon, it is best taken in bulk powder form and can be
used as a suppository or added to enemas. Slippery Elm can sustain life as
it did with George Washington's army and the early pioneers. It has good
food value and can be used in time of famine. It is soothing to any inflamed
area such as ulcers and is the very best for diarrhea. Slippery Elm helps
digestion, especially dairy products and protects the mucous membranes
against irritation and inflammations including kidney and lungs. A paste can
be applied to babies for diaper rash. It helps lubricate the bowel. Helpful
in the following: Abscesses, Asthma, Bronchitis, Burns, Colitis, Colon,
Constipation (may need to add Cascara Sagrada), Coughs, Diaper Rash,
Diarrhea, Digestive, Lungs and Ulcers.
Spearmint
Aids healing, biliary problems, bronchitis, catarrh,
constipation, cystitis, flatulence, hardening of the breasts, heavy periods,
indigestion, leucorrhea, nausea, nervousness, reduces lactation, sea
sickness, sore gums, travel sickness, vertigo, vomiting.
Spinach
An excellent source of antioxidants, Spinach has four
times the beta carotene of broccoli. High in lutein, nutrients in Spinach
help lower blood cholesterol. It also contains carbohydrates, protein,
fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, iron and folic acid
Spirulina
Spirulina is a “Superfood.” It is the most nutritious,
concentrated whole food known to humankind. It has a rich, vibrant history,
and occupies an intriguing biological and ecological niche in the plant
kingdom. Spirulina is truly an amazing food, full of nutritional wonders.
Spirulina’s
concentrated nutrition makes it an ideal food supplement for people of all
ages and lifestyles. Spirulina is about sixty percent complete, highly
digestible protein. Spirulina contains every essential amino acid. It
contains more beta-carotene than any other whole food; it is the best whole
food source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA); it is rich in B vitamins,
minerals, trace elements, chlorophyll, and enzymes; and it is abundant in
other valuable nutrients about which scientists are learning more each year,
such as carotenoids, sulfolipids, glycolipids, phycocyanin, superoxide
dismutase, RNA, and DNA.
Spirulina
supplies nutrients that are lacking in most of our diets. It provides
athletes with long-lasting energy and reduces recovery time; it nourishes
people who have digestion, assimilation, and elimination problems; it
satisfies the appetite as it provides essential nutrients to weight
watchers; it enables children and others who don’t like vegetables to eat
their greens by taking a few tablets; and it helps busy people who don’t
have time for regular, balanced meals to nourish themselves. People with
various health problems swear by Spirulina - it appears to promote overall
health and well-being.
Strawberry
Strawberries contain a range of nutrients, with
vitamin C heading the group. They also contain significant levels of
phytonutrients and antioxidants, which fight free radicals. These
antioxidant properties are believed to be linked to what makes the
strawberry bright red.
So what are these weird free radicals? Free radicals are elements that can
damage cells, and they are thought to contribute to the formation of many
kinds of cancer.
In addition to vitamin C, strawberries also provide an excellent source of
vitamin K and manganese, as well as folic acid, potassium, riboflavin,
vitamin B5, vitamin B6, copper, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Watercress
Watercress is the one of the most nutritious
vegetables known to man. It is the source of a greater proportion of the
body’s needs in terms of vitamins, minerals and fibre per unit weight than
virtually any other foodstuff.
Wheatgrass
This hybrid will do amazing things for your body.
That's why it's called "nature's great healer."
Wheatgrass is an energizer. The vitality obtained from wheatgrass is
remarkable. You'll feel refreshed and energized throughout the day. It's
nutritious. Wheatgrass contains most of the vitamins and minerals needed for
human maintenance. It is a whole meal and a complete protein with about 30
enzymes and is approximately 70% crude chlorophyll. It builds the blood.
Wheatgrass has been proven to build red blood cells quickly after ingestion.
It normalizes high blood pressure and stimulates healthy tissue cell growth.
It cleanses the body. The many detergent factors of wheatgrass will drain
the lymph system, which carries away many toxins from body cells. When an
imbalance exists--sore tendons and joints, degenerative disease, etc--there
is a natural build-up of mucous in the lymph in that area. Wheatgrass will
break down the mucous and allow it to drain. It helps in weight control. The
nutritional value of wheatgrass is so high that many people don't feel those
"cravings" that lead to overeating. This is a wonderful aid in weight
control.
White Willow
The salicylic acid in white willow bark lowers the
body's levels of prostaglandins, hormonelike compounds that can cause aches,
pain, and inflammation. While white willow bark takes longer to begin acting
than aspirin, its effect may last longer. And, unlike aspirin, it doesn't
cause stomach bleeding or other known adverse effect
Wintergreen
Pain reliever, anti-inflammatory.
USAGE:
3 capsules per day, preferably taken with a meal. Always drink at least
8oz of water to help absorbtion (and it's good for you!)
