Six
Soul-utions On Being Great-full
"To be human is a
privilege, not an excuse.",
says Kalua Kaiahua, a
traditional Hawaiian healer
currently practicing ancient
traditions in Aiea, Hawaii.
Perhaps
if we consider a few
alternatives - dead, a dog, a
discarnate soul trapped in the
'house on Elm street', a
co-worker who seems to have
exchanged his or her privilege
for inner death and apathy - we
might tap into the heart and
soul of the greatness of our
humanness rather than make
excuses for our frailties.
Specifically,
I refer to our ability to
dream, to love, to do, and to
choose what to dream, to love
and to do.
Equipped
with a spirit, a mind, a heart
and a body we are uniquely
designed with this greatness.
Within us, we each have a power
that can demonstrate we are
indeed privileged souls rather
than a global excuse for what we
feel is not right.
So if
there is a personal pet peeve
evoking excuses at work, at home
or somewhere on the globe...get
out your greatness. Choose to:
You'll feel "great-ful"
that you did. You'll know that
the workplace, the home or the
world is a tiny bit better for
your effort, and you won't have
to pet your peeve anymore..you
can instead pet someone you
love.
